When her son was born, Paige faced
the challenge that’s so common
among today’s new moms: She was
both madly in love with her child and
pretty darn attached to the career
skills she’d spent years developing.
She headed to the bookstore,
assuming she'd find several
guidebooks on happily combining
work and that crazy first year of
parenthood. But she was surprised
to find none that offered the help
she needed.

As she met other new moms, the same issues kept coming up:
That “what to do about work?” dilemma. The challenge of finding
great, affordable child care. The emotional shift from
independent career gal to mom. And the need for infant care tips
that really work. So she collaborated with Dr. Allison Nied and
set out to create the guidebook that would help.
Paige is an AOL Kids & Family expert and a contributing writer for
Parenting magazine, Mommytrackd.com, The Huffington Post,
BlueSuitMom and Chicago Parent. Her strategies for working
mothers have been featured on news programs, online, and in
publications around the country. She has undergraduate and
graduate degrees from Northwestern University, and she's
worked in advertising, Internet development, and as an e-
commerce and marketing consultant. She recently relocated from
Chicago to Los Angeles with her husband and two young children.

Allison Nied, M.D. is a board-
certified pediatrician and a fellow
with the American Academy of
Pediatrics. She received her B.A. in
psychology from Northwestern
University and her M.D. from the
NYU School of Medicine.
She’s a respected practitioner at
the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center
in New York City and an Associate
Professor of Pediatrics at the Albert
Einstein School of Medicine.

Dr. Nied's enthusiastic style and passion for pediatrics has
been very popular and enabled her practice to thrive. In
fact, it's doubled in size since she began. She teaches
medical students and residents in both in- and out-patient
settings and she's conducted clinical research on infant and
toddler cognitive development. Dr. Nied is also a passionate
advocate of the Reach Out and Read program, a national
organization of pediatricians who promote early childhood
literacy in underserved areas.
A working mom, Dr. Nied and her family recently moved out
of Manhattan for a home in the suburbs. (Her 2-year-old son
still can't believe he has his own yard.)
She believes The Working Gal’s Guide to Babyville will be a
fantastic resource for her patients and all first-time parents
balancing career and life with a baby.
